Tempering

Tempering is a heat treatment used to give materials a combination of high strength and good resilience properties.

We carry out tempering on air-hardening steels in vacuum furnaces.

We usually perform tempering in conjunction with brazing. In vacuum hardening, austenising takes place in a vacuum and the subsequent quenching is with gas (e.g. nitrogen).
